It was Rustoleum paint. Label says safe up to 1,000 degrees F.

They make grill paint. Anything else will burn off.

As long as a high temperature paint was used there shouldnt be any problems.

If it was painted with a high temp paint you should be ok. To be sure though I would run a couple of long term cycles at full tempurature to burn off any potential fumes or residual paint that may come off.
After you run through the first cook off, you might want to take a quick wire brush of the lid and grill, then run through another cycle. Then enjoy the results of your BBQ.

Rustoleum makes a bbq paint in most instances you need a commercial grill to attain heat levels much above 600 degrees

They make paint for very high temperatures, but you should turn your grill on for at least 1 hour before you place food on it. Low temperature paints have harm full gases that burn away into your food.

They make high heat spray paint that is safe to use on the outside of the grill and should last a couple of years. However the inside of the lid should not have been painted.
